One strategic launch

Blackwoods approached Ivory Media for copywriting and video support across the launch of their capability statement for hydraulics and mechanical categories. Clear, concise communication that demonstrated Blackwood’s value to customers needed to be achieved in a short period of time – and we were up for the challenge.

As the project progressed, we caught the attention of the HR team and were able to support their efforts in communicating their newly formed Employee Value Proposition (EVP) with an exciting, professionally articulated video.

Over the past 140 years, Blackwoods has grown from a small marine supply business on the banks of Sydney Harbour to Australia’s largest provider of industrial and safety supplies. Today, Blackwood supports businesses of all sizes with over 300,000 products from the world’s leading brands. Blackwood is Australia’s first choice for industrial and safety products and services, including personal protective equipment, welding and gas, power tools, hand tools, workwear and more.

A robust and proactive project solution

The challenge presented by the copywriting task was to develop technical and creative content that resonated with both engineers and office staff across a wide array of industries and companies. We knew striking the right balance was key: by bringing a high degree of attention to detail to the work, we were able to achieve elegant copy that was tailored to the target audience.

The EVP video was also no small task. We flew around the country to interview over 20 staff members at various Blackwoods offices and distribution centres, capturing their stories. We then carefully crafted these stories into a video that demonstrates the 3 pillars of their EVP: Care, Connection and Career.
