Overview
The UNSW Alumni team holds an awards event each year to recognise and honour the unique contribution of UNSW Alumni across a range of societal impact categories.
The Alumni team approached Ivory Media looking to promote brand loyalty of UNSW Sydney amongst its Alumni community and potential donors, by telling the stories of each Alumni Award winner – their efforts, challenges and achievements.
In previous years, the stories of the winners had not been effectively communicated, resulting in minimal engagement. The Alumni team looked to us for our deep storytelling expertise and production support to create a compelling series of videos and photography.

Approach
We proposed a documentary-style, interview-driven approach, providing insight into the challenges the winners had faced and what motivated them to pursue their work with excellence.
Following our pre-interview sessions we got to work on a detailed production plan for shoots in Perth, Canberra and Sydney, Indonesia and Vietnam. The interview footage was then distilled into 2-3mins of narrative for each winner.
Outcome
The feedback that we received from the client and the award winners was resoundingly positive. Each winner felt that we’d told their story in an authentic and compelling way and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience of shooting with us. The Alumni team were so thrilled with the results they’ve booked us to do it all again this year!
